Tuesday - strange foods

We drove our guests to Savannakhet and they continued on with their site visit to another organization.

Here are a few sites from the trip:

crickets

This is a whole sack of crickets. Crickets can be deep-fried and eaten while drinking beer. Well, they can be. I rather avoid them. This market sells a lot of local foods, many of which are more...well, we'll say.... exotic than crickets.

While we stopped for grilled chicken in Seno, this motorcycle parked in front of us.

lotus pods

These are quite good - they are the heads of lotus flowers after the petals fall over. The head itself is spongy but when you break it open, the seeds are good, with the texture of uncooked peanuts and sweet and oily in taste.
