People like to grow these in Laos - in the evenings they had a thick sweet odor that spreads out all over the place. I've known this plant only as Jimson's weed in the US - the seeds are poisonous, causing hallucinations, fever, palpitations just to name a few of its effects.
They are pretty against the evening sky with a thunderstorm moving in. I took this on the 14th up in Xieng Khouang.

So very very nice flower..., I wonder how the smell is...
Nice weekend wishes to you, from Norway.
On the sight of such beauty on those flowers, one almost forgets that beyond is a sky to be seen!
It's a five star photo.
Beautiful! I think they are in the datura family - poisonous. There's a type that grows as a tree too.
We have something called trumpet flowers here that look like that and are extremely poisonous hallucinogens. Lovely photo.
Beautiful, excellent composition.
What an incredible shot! Very cool. These really are nice plants too. I know how the spread in the States, I can't imagine how large they must grow over there.
Love the photo. You must have been lying on the ground to get this shot.
I see you have "Good Reads" on your sidebar. I will check it out. I have one that I just started not long ago too.
Fantastic flower

Chan: What a wonderful post of a beautiful Tree and Sky. Very nicely done.
What a great shot and perspective.
I think this photo will be my favorite to day. Those flower are so beautiful! In Norway we have to pay very much for one of those in the flower-shop, and you have nearly a forest of them. Wow!
I almost forgot to say that this is a wonderful photo and beautiful colors in it. I love it:)
How beautiful - love the perspective!
Hi! Sorry for this short visit just to thank your comments on my blog. This weekend, I’m going to take a musical break, and next week I’ll make a very short trip, crossing South Atlantic. I’ll try to catch up with your posts as soon as possible. Meanwhile, leave you with some chocolate champagne truffles at Blogtrotter.
Have a lovely weekend and an excellent week!

Stunning photo! It might drive me crazy, but I'd like to experience what it is like to smell the fragrance filling the evening.
